Three Sticks is unlike most postapocalyptic
high fantasy novels featuring
a rebellious, one-armed niece from the
Elven First House. There is no awkward
teen romance against a backdrop of
looming war. Ok, there is a little, maybe
more than a little.
This epic fantasy series primarily focuses
on the lives of two brothers growing up
inside an ancient protective Ward that
blankets the human kingdom. Our two
siblings face challenges in that they are
both mixed race. Sten, the older brother,
is a magicless half-elf, and Hopper, his
adopted younger brother, is half-human
and half-forest giant. As teenagers, the
brothers navigate the dangerous terrain
of girlfriends, bullies, and the strange
creatures that live outside the Ward.
